UK Music has urged MEPs and the EU Council to support the amended copyright directive after the EU Parliament Legal Affairs committee’s approval yesterday.

The compromise text will now proceed to a plenary vote in a few weeks. This deal between EU negotiators intends to guarantee rights and obligations of copyright law that apply to the internet.

Following the decision, UK Music said on behalf of its members: ‘UK Music and its members have always supported constructive steps to foster a fair music licensing environment that benefits creators, performers and those who invest in them.”
